Greenville County Democratic Party re-elects Amanda McDougald Scott for chair

Edit: This story has been updated to include the results of the election for leadership titles in the Greenville County Democratic Party.

Elections for county leadership, precinct officers for 151 precincts and delegates to the state convention are on the agenda for the Greenville County Democratic Party's convention on Saturday, March 2.

The county party will also present and vote on resolutions.

"It's an opportunity for people to get involved in the (Democratic) party," said current Chair of GCDP Amanda McDougald Scott. Scott is running unopposed as chair of the GCDP.

Other candidates include:

  • Johnathon Sweeney, running for re-election for 1st Vice Chair

  • Phylicia Adams, running for 2nd Vice Chair

  • Travis Reeder, running for 2nd Vice Chair

  • Melanie Bowman, running for 2nd Vice Chair

  • Kristen Pruitt, running for re-election for 3rd Vice Chair

Precinct officers will also be elected. Each precinct has multiple leadership positions: president, first, second, and third vice-president. Anyone who voted in the 2024 Republican Presidential Primary cannot vote in the GCDP county convention, which is a rule from the state party.

Who was elected at the GCDP convention?

Incumbent chair Amanda McDougald Scott was re-elected for her third term as GCDP chair. Incumbents Johnathon Sweeney and Kristen Pruitt were also re-elected. For the 2nd Vice Chair, Travis Reeder was elected.
